Did you know?

The Pink Ribbon Riders receives on a daily average since December of 2009, two (2) patients per day applying for the Pink Ribbon Riders financial assistance program. That means if everyone that applys follows through and we gave out to each person we would give out $365,000 dollars this year! Only one problem, Pink Ribbon Riders was so proud last year to raised $300,000, but that would not be enough for this year.. so we need your help to spread the word about what the Pink Ribbon Riders does and hopefully more people will thank about making a donation to the cause!

3/29/09- Pink Ribbon Riders Assistance Program collaborated with the Jackson Hole area to help father and daughter that are both diagnosed with breast cancer this past weekend

This past weekend at the Jackson Hole Hill climb in Jackson, Wyoming the Pink Ribbon Riders gave assistance to father and daughter that are both battling breast cancer. Locals Dick and Leith Barker were awarded with a $500.00 gift card each during the Saturday Hill Climb event.

Mr. Barker shared that his mom had also been diagnosed with breast cancer years prior to her passing. A moving public speech from Mr. Barker told the crowd of thousands at the event how true and scary as a male that they too can get breast cancer.

The same evening the Pink Ribbon Riders awarded assistance to Judy Koreski from Washington who is a second time recipient of the assistance from Pink Ribbon Riders. Her nephew who competed in the Hill climb event was there to accept for her at the Freestyle show and the gift was presented by Sam Rogers, Freestyle Rider and PRR representative.

While in Jackson Hole the Pink Ribbon Riders made a donation to the St. John's Hospital and Foundation for $3,000 to start a phone card and gas card fund for breast cancer patients that are treated at the hospital. Pink Ribbon Riders recognizes the need of patients that live in rural areas of Wyoming that struggle with the financial need for gas money and the struggle of living to far away to be able to attend support groups. We hope that working with the hospital that we can make it just a little bit easier for the breast cancer patients there to keep fighting their battle.

While in Wyoming for the 2nd Annual Wyoming Snow Run and the Jackson Hole Hill Climb event the Pink Ribbon Riders donated more than $5,000 back to the community and surrounding states through the Pink Ribbon Riders Assistance Program. We want to thank all of the volunteers and those that helped while we were out west to make the past two weeks and incredible time of people helping people.

Pink Ribbon Riders a volunteer based organization has launched a new format for patients diagnosed with breast cancer to apply for assistance. The new format will ask patients to fill out an on line form with their contact information and will then prompt them to download a form that will be mailed to Pink Ribbon Riders.

The new process allows Pink Ribbon Riders and the patient immediate contact with each other. The Assistance Program will work on an "open enrollment" calendar. The Pink Ribbon Riders web site will announce the open dates for applications to be received and will announce when the program is closed. This "open enrollment" format will allow time for the volunteers at Pink Ribbon Riders to process applications and notify patients.

To keep funding directed as much to the patients and the mission of helping others an "open enrollment" format is planned to better assist those in need.

Patients will have the opportunity to receive up to $500.00 per year from the organization's assistance fund. The funds maybe distributed to them directly or to their bills in order to help pay medical bills, utility bills, gas money or even food.

The funds are for them to use however it may make their day and fight against breast cancer just a little bit easier. The Assistance Program will make determination to patients in the states in which Pink Ribbon Riders hosts fundraising events first and then if funds allow, it will assist patients outside of the fund raising states.

The current first determination states are: New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Wyoming. The program has currently helped more than 100 patients and still counting.

The Pink Ribbon Riders has also assisted grass roots programs such as the Jefferson - Lewis County Wellness Connection in New York, The Hat Rack program in Michigan, the One Day at a Time, volunteer support group in Michigan and many other grass roots programs that do not have large resources for funding for their own programs. Based on fund availability, Pink Ribbon Riders hopes to continue also supporting these and many more grass roots programs in the future.

Pink Ribbon Riders also funds the awareness of breast cancer that both men and women can be diagnosed by providing free materials of information at all appearances to the public. And as many requests as possible when we are informed of a new patient diagnosis.

Thank you to the continued support of the Pink Ribbon Riders organization presenting sponsors: Arctic Cat Corporation, HMK USA, Ingles Performance, Triton Trailers. Through their dedication to our mission we thank them tremendously for all that they do to make our mission real.

Snow Goer Magazine’s First-Ever Dunk Tank Raises Money For Charity
Snowmobilers Raise Money for the Pink Ribbon Riders Among the many Hay Days attractions September 6-7 in Columbus, Minnesota was Snow Goer magazine’s dunk tank. Onlookers gathered to see and attempt to sink numerous snowmobile industry professionals who volunteered to help raise money for Pink Ribbon Riders, a charity that financially assists men and women diagnosed with breast cancer.
The free-will donation raised $878 for the Pink Ribbon Riders. A rush of proceeds came from the Hay Days host club, the Sno Barons, when grass drags race director Steve Seviola and Sno Barons president Dennis Little got into the tank. The club’s other members packed the tank area to see their bigwigs get soggy.
Arctic Cat, a major sponsor to the Pink Ribbon Riders, made a $100 donation and allowed children to take turns sinking Pink Ribbon Riders co-founder Jody McKay. The fundraiser received support from HMK, United States Cross-Country, Tek Rider and others, including people from the crowd.
“We’re happy with our first charity event at Hay days,” said Tim Erickson, Snow Goer’s editor. “We’re especially proud of the support from the volunteers who stepped into the booth and to the volunteers with the Pink Ribbon Riders who worked with us to make this charity dunk tank a success. We’ve got our benchmark, and now we can work on improving our fundraising efforts for this worthwhile charity.”

Thank You RMR Racers and Families! You Rock!
Pink Ribbon Riders would like to send a huge heart felt thank you to Rock Maple Racing and all the racers and families that support the Pink Ribbon Riders by participating in the end of the year relay race to benefit the Pink Ribbon Riders Organization. This year we received a donation totaling $3,086!

Through your support we are able to help men and women diagnosed with breast cancer by providing an Assistance Program that enables them to apply for financial assistance. The financial assistance is commonly used for gas to treatment centers or to help pay for the enormous medical bills that occur due to battling the disease of breast cancer.

Pink Ribbon Riders also supports local support groups for patients and their families by providing educational books and other resources that maybe needed in order for patients to talk to each other if they are to far to travel to a center for a support meeting.

We could not accomplish our mission of helping others if it was not for the amazing people that are involved with Rock Maple Racing. Thank you to all of you for your continued support and we wish you a safe and healthy summer!

This winter has been amazing for the Pink Ribbon Riders, we started in Minnesota on New Years, traveled to Michigan and then just this past weekend in Eagle River for the 1st Annual Wisconsin Snow Run!

We are proud to announce that this first year event in Wisconsin raise $21,000 and still counting! A total of 93 participants attended and rode up to 137 miles that day! Watch for more photos and details on the Wisconsin Snow Run page. Even a video clip from Channel 12 News will be available to watch!

And we are not done, this weekend, March 1st, we head to New York for the 4th Annual New York Snow Run and are expecting 300 Participants!

If that’s not enough this volunteer organization wraps up the “Riding in honor and in memory of those we love” snowmobile “Snow Run” events in Wyoming on April 5th! Each event has proved to be not only emotional as we are able to help patients battling breast cancer with the Pink Ribbon Riders Breast Cancer Fund. The organization invites a local patient to receive their fund assistance the night of the event and he or she shares their story.

The assistance is received in a $500 gift card to help with medical bills or daily needs, but it also provides a great days of co-survivors coming together to be able to talk about their emotions and struggles. Currently Pink Ribbon Riders has helped over 30 people from states all over the USA. We can not share names with the public of who we have assisted as they are protected by HIPPA Rules. This program was established in late fall of 2007 and has been available to anyone in the USA, simply by printing off an application form on the left side of our home page and completing the need information.

Pink Ribbon Rider volunteers also seek patients to assist with the fund in the specific states that we host “Snow Run” events in. Additionally, many grass roots projects such as survivor groups are assisted by the Pink Ribbon Riders. We actively search for programs that are assisting patients directly.

2/22/08
Sad news came to Pink Ribbon Riders yesterday as we found out the one of our friends Mary from Minnesota lost her fight against breast cancer yesterday. We wish to send our love to her sister and family. There are no words at times like this to comfort this loss. We only hope that now Mary is pain free and that she will become an angel that will watch over others and help give them strength.

Mary we will ride in honor and in memory of you this weekend at the Wisconsin Snow Run. You will not be forgotten as you have touched so many of us.

Pink Ribbon Riders Kick-Off Snowmobile Ride for Breast Cancer - MaxSled.com article by: Shane Zeppelin
It was the weekend between Christmas and New Years. Just winding down from one holiday and getting ready for the next. Most people have something going on the holiday weekends, but reserve the weekend in between for some vacation activities. In Sledder World, we go sledding. This happened to be the same weekend that the Pink Ribbon Riders had their second annual Minnesota Snow Run to raise money to help men and women with breast cancer. This year's line-up of Pros are incredibly talented racers and earning one of the top honors this weekend is our Pro - Mike Schultz. He says, "It feels great to be back on the track and I plan to spend A LOT of time in the winner's circle!" Our own Kylie Abrahamson (breast cancer awareness spokesperson) dominated the Pro Women's division finishing 1st in both rounds and earned a 1st place finish in the final which was one of the most exciting races of the weekend. Arctic Cat and Pink Ribbon Riders hit the trails for 2007-2008 in “PINK” style with a second limited edition Pink Ribbon Riders snowmobile for a pink cause.

Arctic Cat and Pink Ribbon Riders are pleased to announce the teaming together again this season to create awareness of breast cancer in both men and women while helping to support those diagnosed on a direct level. For the second year, Arctic Cat commits to building a limited edition Pink Ribbon Riders snowmobile.

In the fall of 2006, Arctic Cat and Pink Ribbon Riders met together to create the first “official Pink Snowmobile”. The snowmobile created lots of stir in the motor sports industry in a positive way by letting those know that this disease does not just affect women, but men also.

Knowing that the impact needed to be strong and the message to be heard very Loud, Representative of Arctic Cat, Kale Wainer and Jody McKay, of Pink Ribbon Riders new that teaming together was the right thing to do.

Keep your eyes peeled for the appearance of the second edition of this one of a kind, “Pink Sled for a Pink cause” to be seen at the upcoming Snow Shows this fall. The Pink Awareness Sled is donated to the Pink Ribbon Riders to use as a raffle to generate funds for their mission. Tickets will be available for purchase and a limited amount of 1,000 tickets will be printed. The 2007 winner of the first pink Sled was Linda Scott of PA.

The Pink Ribbon Riders will continue their mission of spreading awareness of breast cancer to both men and women in the motor sports industry by attending many power sports trade shows and snowmobile races this fall and winter. The Snow Run events are planned in New York, Michigan, Minnesota and adding two new locations of Wyoming and Wisconsin.

FXR supporting Cancer Care and Support Program
The single biggest story out of the FXR camp this year is its Cancer care and support charity program.

Starting this season, $10 from the sale of all FXR women’s jackets will be donated to various programs throughout Canada and the United States supporting women living with cancer.

FXR’s goal is to help women and their families, as they live with cancer. A few of the programs that will benefit from this great program are:

The Kelly Shires Foundation - whose fundraising efforts go directly to financially assisting affected women and their families.

Pink Ribbon Riders - which hosts events across the USA to assist men and women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer in the daily financial struggles while creating awareness of breast cancer to both men and women.

For more information on the program, contact Judy Friesen- judy@fxrracing.com
