1st Annual Michigan Dirt Run raises close to
$4,000 and still counting!
On Saturday August 16th in Lewiston Michigan, Lewiston Motorsports sponsored the 1st Annual Michigan Dirt Run with a group of 50 riders and volunteers getting together to "Ride in honor and in memory of those we love" by riding sport utility vehicles to create awareness and raise money to help breast cancer patients. The event kicked off with a welcome party at the Redwood Steak house where participants checked in and door prizes were handed out courtesy of Artic Cat, Can Am, Budweiser and more!
The ride took place on saturday morning with atvs and mules riding anywhere from 80 miles to 100 miles during the day! The conditions were dry but mud puddles were found to test the riders and make sure that when they returned they looked like dust bunnies! Prizes were awarded for the best decorated awareness bike and the award went to: Scott Keskine. The top fundraiser award went to Greg Pewinski raisng $560.00 towards the cause.
Riders were treated to lunch at Chatters in Atlanta and greeted by music and dinner back at the Lewiston Moose Lodge when they returned. The Lewiston Moose Lodge hosted the location and dinner and made a surprise donation of $300 to the day! The event included door prizes, silent auction, games, music and meeting new friends while helping those in need!
At all Pink Ribbon Riders fundraising events, we look to support the local community in which the event was held with our mission of helping breast cancer patients. This years 1st Annual Michigan Dirt Run helped two women from the area of Lewiston and Atlanta and are presenting them with $500 each towards medicals bills that have occured due to their diagnosis. At this time the names are protected as both women were ill the day of the event and could not publicly accept the gift. Shirley Andrews Representative of the Ostego Hospital was present to accept the checks for both ladies.
We would like to thank all of the participants and volunteers of the 1st Annual Michigan Dirt Run and all of the local support from the community that made this event happen. With out their support and time the event would not be possible. We look forward to next year and that coming together as Pink Ribbon Riders we are making a difference for those diagnosed.
Special thanks goes to the Lewiston Moose Lodge, Lewiston Motorsports and the trail leaders of the event lead by Sherrif Doug Baum of Lewiston for all the combined volunteer time and effort in making the day a huge success!
